New Logo

I decided to change the font style for the logo for my magazine. I believe this font style gives a kind of a shattering effect. The previous font style looked abit more classic than it did as Rock.

Front Cover in Progress

This is the cover so far. What i've done to this is changing the font style of the WHAM and instead of "End of the Line" i changed it to "Battle of the Soloists". Unfortunatly i could not get all the people for the band photo so i have to change the side stories as soloists. With this it can give me an advantage of changing my story plus the pictures on the front cover. Instead of one person alone, its all three.

Photo i will not be using

the reason why i am not using this photo is becasue the persons face is covered by his hair.

The reason why i am not using this one is because both people are smiling, distracted from looking at each other also this was a test shot.

ideas of Interactivity

Ideas for Interactivity in my Music Magazine

WHAM.com and other music websites allow the target audience to make an account to sign up to look up statuses, photos and videos and rate and comment on them too. Users can also go into group discussions about what they think about their favourite music, music magazines etc. They can even have the feature of rate the site and have a comment if there needs to be any improvement. Even each issue of WHAM itself, rate and comment what was the best bits of it, only to people who’ve read it. Allowing the audience to comment and rate, it allows them to have power and to help us develop how we work with our news updates, competitions etc.

E-media has improved the audience’s way of viewing content and also receiving feedback from them. Sites like YouTube, Twitter and Facebook which allow users to listen to songs and view music videos and also how the views and ratings of the song or music video. Content Page Re-design

After thinking about it, i've decided to re-design my content page instead of creating a double spread page. I beleive it'll be easier to change my original layout. Currently, I'm sketching out my new layout and will begin creating it on Photoshop.

Article Draft

Introduction:
Joe Donnison embraces a new challenge this year; this will decide what will happen to the rock star in future. The question is, is this it? Joe has been thinking about whether he should hang up his guitar and put the microphone back in the box or carry on but struggle.

Background:
Before the whole situation, lets look back at how he got so far in his career. Joe Donnison is a Modern Rock artist in his early twenties. Born in Manchester, he won a singing competition back in 2007, at the age of fifteen and since then was offered a music career then later on developing his skills playing the guitar which supported him to create his own songs. After a year of training with his nerves keep kicking in, Joe managed to release a single and had a five star rating and became No. 3 in the UK charts. He then released his own album a year later and became No. 1. Since then the mighty rock star succeeded into doing tours, working with Collision in the past few yearsfor charity events. He’s risen so far since the young fifteen year old having nervous breakdowns to a young adult with greater confidence.

Plot:
Joe has had a rough year with balancing his work and his normal life as one. This July he performed live in the UK and forgotten the words to one of his classics “Hello and Goodbye”, the rock star became frustrated and walked off stage, he then later tweeted on Twitter “I don’t know how I’ve lasted this long.” Fans were outraged for the anticlimactic ending to the July concert; even one said “I’ve been a fan since day one. Always supported Joe when others didn’t, not like it’s noticeable. He shouldn’t over react over one mistake!” From his own view he believes that things are getting too much for him. But if he carries on what will happen? Will he make it or will he lose control.
This isn’t the first time he’s thought of this. Last year he said in an interview “I think I’m done with the whole rock star career”. Joe’s known as an iconic star who’s made it so far in his career since 2007. He would be a huge miss if he called it quits but who knows? Well he does… The other day a fan saw him out with his friends and apparently heard he’s leaving, rumours have said he has interest in acting but if he can’t manage a music career how can he keep up a acting one? However who are we to judge someone.
Joe will be on BBC Breakfast on the 17th December this year and will discuss what he’s going to do with his career.

Q+A.
Q. So Joe, how does it feel becoming so successful?
J. I’m honestly proud of what I’ve done through the years. –Smiles-
Q. So, are the rumours true about quitting?
J. Well…it’s hard to say especially on interviews. I have to be honest I don’t know. If I had a decision I would tell you and my fans but it’s a difficult choice. I’ve had a tough year as my nerves kind of made a return, my last concert for instance. I’m just afraid of making the same mistake.
Q. In the meantime, will there34 be any more music or tours from you? Your fans have become hungry for more music off you.
J. –Laughs- I think so, after all its nearly Christmas so what the hell! I’m actually working on a Christmas song so let’s hope this will enlighten my fans.

Colour Schemes

Even though i've created a flatplan on Photoshop, i've been thinking of different colour schemes for my magazine. From choosing, these six are the best for my design however whether using them in the schemes i've placed them in or changing them around.

Double Paged Article Analysis

Music Magazine Content Page Analysis

This is my analysis on Content Pages.

Monday 14 October 2013

My Idea

I've decided to create a Classic Rock magazine towards target audience both genders and the ages between 15 to 25, so to make this I need to analyse other Classic Rock magazine covers, content pages and also articles to make mine realistic as possible. I'll also be making questionnaires/surveys for the target audience to see what their opinions are about Classic Rock and I'll be posting their results on here too.

Thursday 3 October 2013

The assignment for the course is to make a music magazine front cover, content page and a few pages including articles. What i need to do is investigate what i need to inlcude in my magazine and the type of genre i'm going to chose. I will be blogging my investigation and also my magazine cover, content page and other pages plus the step by step process towards the final piece.

School Magazine Cover and Content Page Practical

Magazine Cover

Content Page

The past two weeks, I've been set a task to produce a School Magazine front cover and a content page. I had to start off with taking pictures around the school and also students. When i started making the front cover, i thought it would be best to start with an basic layout then build up from that, I found this helpful as things fell in place when i finished it. I felt that placing photos on the front cover was a thought as i had to think about where to place them, I was told by my Media teacher that it would be helpful to place the images on a shape layer so it stands out more then insert text underneath each image. Finally i placed on the top the Heworth Grange Logo to make it look official, tag line, the time of the magazine and the price.

For the Content page, I thought i would go simple with it especially the layout. I start off inseting shapes around the page then place text and images over it. I thought i wouldnt need much photos for the back ground so i inserted the school yard photo i took and placed it on the bottom right corner of the page, I  then got the rubber tool, fady effect aswell and rubbed around the photo so it would blend in with the white background.

Overall, I've gained skills with this task especially using Photoshop and recapping how to use tools aswell. I have been taught how to take photos, plus how it makes a impact on the magazine cover and content page. These skills with be helpful throughout the course.
